PRINCIPLE OF AN AIRTUBE SYSTEM 

The NATAIR 2 system is an air tube system capable of both sending and receiving carriers.  Single direction is also available.  The standard mode of operation is manual. To send a carrier, open the slide sleeve and insert the carrier into slide sleeve station and press the push button.  The carrier is then immediately sucked or blown along from one end of the tube to the other.

 The carrier is moved by the flow of air and reaches a velocity of 5-7 metres per second.  Higher speeds are available, by using larger blowers.  As soon as the carrier reaches its destination, the controller automatically turns off the blower.  When needed, the arrival of the carrier can be indicated by means of an acoustical and visual signal.  The length of tubing that can be used is virtually endless and can be mounted indoors as well as outdoors.

SECURITY

If the tube is cut, the system no longer functions as the airflow to move the carrier is no longer available.  This consequently offers a safe, secure and speedy means of moving valuables, money or items from one point to another.

SIZE

There are also many different sizes of tubing available and sizes range from 90mm to 160mm in diameter.  The tube and carrier size depends onwhat the weight and size of the object is that is to be carried.  The standard sizes are 110mm and 160mm diameter.

STATIONS POINT TO POINT

The standard slide sleeve control panel has a push button and indicating pilot lights to show when the system is busy sendingor receiving carriers. Many configurations of stations are available.  The type depends on the clients specific requirements.  Some of the standard configurations for a point to point system would be; Slide sleeve to slide sleeve, both sending and receiving. 

  • Slide sleeve to slide sleeve, single direction
  • Open end to slide sleeve, single direction
  • Slide sleeve into a safe or secure enclosure, single direction
  • Slide sleeve to treasury station, both directions.
MULTI POINT CARRIER

Where many points are required to be able to send to each other or to a central station, diverters are used to route capsules to and from the required points. The carriers are in fact the containers in which the objects are transported.  They are made of an impact resistant plastic and fitted with baring ringsmade of a soft material.  These rings ensure that the movement of the carriers is silent and efficient.  The baring rings also provide and airtight fittingfor the carrier in the tubing, thus ensuring an efficient use of airglow and enabling relatively large weights to be transported.

 The carrier can be fitted with screw caps or swivel caps depending on the type of carrier used.  Sometimes the choice of carriers is limited by thediameter of pipe being used.  The dimensions of the carrier also determine the diameter of the tubing and the radius of the bends.

BLOWERS

The blower supplies the air needed for moving the carrier.  The length and the diameter of the tubing determine the size of the blower required for an installation.  Blowers are available in single-phase 220 V for the smaller and shorter tube runs and 3-phase 380 V for the larger tubes and longer tube lengths.
